This is probably the most disappointing of Julia Donaldson's picture books. We love all the other ones (Gruffalo, Charlie Cook etc) but this one is not very exciting for a three-year old boy who likes monsters, knights, aliens and dinosaurs... The pictures are, I suppose, friendlier or sweeter than Axel Scheffler's but not as interesting. And the glitter on the pages... well, my son couldn't care less. He never reaches for this book and I didn't bother getting the audio version because I didn't like the voice or sound effects (as far as I could tell by listening to the preview).
