Having read Jack Finney's "Time and Again" before reading this, I was more than a little disappointed with "Somewhere in Time." It took far too long for the author to set up the premise, and the actual romance takes place over two days. The book would have been much improved if Matheson could have come to the crux sooner and more convincing if he had given more details on the relationship between the three main characters. This is one of the rare cases where the movie was actually better than the book. Of course, Jane Seymour's beauty may have had something to do with that. If a reader is going to read one time travel romance, stick with Finney's novel. It is a truly wonderful tale and far more creative.
