The story is a unique look behind the scenes of a Martha Stewart-like character. Full of life and subtle humour, Jacobs paints the character of Gus as caring yet reserved woman who has landed a successful television show in an unsuspecting way. The plethora of well-defined secondary characters in this book takes the story to an entertaining place, as you share in the pitfalls surrounding Gus' life. With modern references aplenty, this book yields a timely look into a story that could very well be unfolding in a kitchen... or at a retreat centre today.

I finished this book a few weeks ago and have to commend Kate Jacobs on a job well done. While this was my first Jacobs novel, it most certainly won't be my last.
