Cutting for Stone, 2010-02-12Undoubtedly one of the best books I have ever read. I really like Abraham's Verghese's writing and turned to the book because I'd read The Tennis Partner, and then his next book as well. Never knew much about Ethiopia and found the history and politics fascinating, as well as medicine as practiced in this little known country. The cast of characters was most unusual and varied, and created in-depth. A wonderful if lengthy read. Have recommended Cutting to many people and also to three book clubs, all of whom have responded with accolades.
