In defense of Amazon, and Bravo Apple!, 2009-09-01In contradistinction from all those who complained about not getting their Snow-Leopard
on April 28, my copy, which I ordered on April 28 (after reading a few reviews, and finding out that
I could save $ 4.00 on Amazon) arrived today (April 31), although I opted for Free Shipping, and was told to expect
shipping on September 4. Moral of the story: don't order a month in advance and don't pay for two-day shipping.
Now for the update: this was the smoothest update ever. I started it at 18:30, went to eat my dinner and at 19:35
the iMac had rebooted and I was logged in in Snow Leopard. Spent a few minutes to install Xcode and a few languages.
Permission repair found only three files with the wrong permissions, in distinction from 10.5.8
I gained about 40 GB (actually, new, decimal gigabytes), and Time Machine found about 12 GB to back up.
Bravo Apple for this nice upgrade!
