Attention to detail, 2010-05-29I think the key element to this brilliant series is attention to detail. Alan Ball, his staff as well as the brilliant actors not only create a world that is entirely believable but also go to great lengths to capture the internal conflict and emotions each character is going through. This season was all about coming of age. From Jessica discovering her new "body" and lifestyle to the powerful influence Maryann has on Bon temps and the people in it; each episode leads you to a climactic finally that leaves the viewer wanting more.
As someone who has followed the series first, I am now reading the books by the orginal creator Charlaine Harris.
It is safe to say that the television series & the book are closely related. What I love the most is that both Charlaine Harris and Alan Ball have remained true to the vampire mythology. For instance, when vampires are exposed to the sun, they burn and eventually evaporate unlike another series (Twilight) which alter that they glow.
